THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB IN CA-SD01, IS THE ONLY WOMAN RUNNING
The race for CA-SD01 up here in Northern California has unfolded over the last month in a way I never could have imagined, Barbara Alby is coming up quick in the polls and now has the momentum to pull this off, with our help. I’ve had many of my contacts ask me about this race as well, so after watching the San Francisco Giants win the world series, I felt obligated to offer my perspective on it considering we are sitting on the eve of the most important elections in my lifetime. It basically comes down to this, will you vote for, or against, the “status quo” in politics this election. Ted Gaines being the “status quo”.
Over the last year I have spent my time and efforts exposing and attempting to put an end to the corruption within the Placer County GOP. Ted Gaines has been neck deep in support of, and part of that corruption/good ol’ boy network. After pulling a freedom of information act on his record of spending while on the Placer Board of Supervisors, I’ve found hundreds of thousands of dollars in corrupt spending, political kickbacks, etc. etc. (see here here and here), not to mention he violated his pledge to the taxpayers of AD-4 (see here).
From there, Mr. Gaines Showed his elitism, by implying that the voters of Placer County were too stupid to understand the ballot for his special election (see here), when in reality, he wanted to waste another 150K of the taxpayers money, with only himself, and his political career in mind.
Now we find ourselves in a situation where Mr. Gaines wants to cost the taxpayers millions more in a special election if he wins the race for Senate District 01, AND Assembly District 4. Why would we do that to ourselves when there is already a true conservative in the race in Barbara Alby? As a Tea Party organizer, isn’t the number one item of importance “Fiscal Responsibility”? I could go on and on regarding the behavior of Mr. Gaines and his apparent role and support of the corruption within the Placer GOP, but I’d be here for a week, and the election is tomorrow, so I’ll get back on point. Let’s be real here though, the only thing Mr. Gaines has in mind right now is his own political career, not the people of Placer County, and not the country. You see he knows his assembly seat terms out in 2012, and he figures he better jump on the bandwagon quick or else a true conservative doing a good job will take his “golden opportunity”.
Barbara Alby has demolished Mr. Gaines in every debate they’ve had in the last month (see here, here, and here). Because of that, he chose to tuck tail and hide when it came time for the debate at the Mother Lode Tea Party and not even have the decency to have a staffer call to say we wasn’t going to be there for their debate. Finally at the end of the debate (8:00PM, the debate started at 6:00PM), when Barbara Alby was in the middle of her closing statement…he has his wife and daughter come in and blatantly lied about Mr. Gaines whereabouts, while rudely making a scene and interrupting Barbara’s closing statement (see here).
What also stands out to me is the “favoritism” Mr. Gaines has received from the Nor Cal Tea Party Patriots and other Tea Party Patriot groups in the Northern California area, it seemed odd to me because I understood TPP to be about standing up “against” the status quo in “both” parties. Wondering whether maybe they were just oblivious to who the real Mr. Gaines was, I began investigating why there would be favoritism to this corruption. Within my investigation I learned that apparently Mark Meckler and Ginny Rapini had been the recipients of “political favors” from Mr. Gaines with regards to permitting for their SAC912 event, ah, now I understand….sounds like “status quo” politics to me.
Not only has this caused some stir and turmoil between a couple of the other Tea Party groups in the Northern California area that endorsed Barbara Alby, and are actively campaigning for her (see here and here). One activist was quoted as saying “it saddens me to see an organization I was part (TPP) of and helped grow since April 2009, choose the path of status quo corrupt politics, a lot has changed since April of last year”, adding, “this Tea Party group won’t sell out to the corrupt GOP establishment, just because TPP leadership and organizers within other groups want to act in an unprincipled manner and embrace this corruption doesn’t mean we’ll do the same”.
This has turned the race into quite the slugfest, here’s what the Sacramento Bee had to say about it:
“Gaines has looked for votes among tea party activists. He spoke at a September event held by the Nor Cal Tea Party Patriots, which can’t endorse candidates because of its non-profit status.
But Gaines has competition in that arena.
Alby entered the race late, has little money but counts on loyalists who admire her personal history and style.”
AND
“Alby, who calls herself a “constitutional conservative,” is touting endorsements by the Citrus Heights-Roseville Tea Party Activists group and a sister group in the Foothills Farm area, both of which can legally endorse candidates.
Quinn thinks the tea party movement has much less impact in California compared to small states, such as Delaware. (SIDE NOTE: THERE’S ACTUALLY ANOTHER REASON THE TEAPARTY HASN’T BEEN SUCCESSFUL ON THE STATEWIDE LEVEL IN CALIFORNIA, BUT THAT’S FOR ANOTHER BLOG)
Activists in the groups backing Alby concede they have only a few hundred members between them, but they hope to turn out far more votes for Alby.”
The fact remains that we’re “stuck” with Mr. Gaines for the AD-4 seat, nothing we can do about that now, however we CAN do something about CA-SD-1 and we CAN save Placer County millions by voting for Barbara Alby.
It looks like the Northern California TPP groups have a real “gut check” in front of them, and the question has to be asked, will they support the Sacramento/Washington “status quo” and allow themselves to be bought off with cheap political favors by the establishment GOP, or will they honor their declared commitment to “fiscal responsibility” and vote for Barbara Alby?
When one activist from the CH/Roseville Tea Party Activists was asked how he felt about the apparent favoritism towards Gaines due to a political favor, he replied tersely, “et tu brute”.
Vote for the only candidate in this race who is uncorrupted and will fight for “We the People”. Vote for Barbara Alby for SD-01 on November 2nd!
