My ancestors have been on the North American soil since at least 1624. They sold themselves into indentured servitude for 4 years for the ticket on the ship to the New World. One of my grandfathers fought under George Washington. Another worked as an explorer for Thomas Jefferson. Another fought under Andrew Jackson at the battle of New Orleans. He Generaled Jim Bowie at the battle that fired the first shot for Texas independence from Mexico and is written up in the Texas history books. An uncle was Aide de Camp to Sam Houston and later a state senator in Texas. Another Grandfather fought in the Louisiana 9th Infantry famously known as the “Louisiana Tigers”. After surviving the Battle of Gettysburg, he died in the Battle of Monocacy in the War of Northern Aggression from gangrene after removal of his leg. He was buried far from home in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Frederick, Md. Another uncle fought under Patton in WWII. He fought across Africa, Sicily, Italy, was on Normandy at D-Day plus 3. He fought through the Ardienne and the Battle of the Bulge and survived. My brother fought in Vietnam as a Medical Tech. I will never stop fighting for my country in whatever manner needed. God Bless America.
My Uncle Woody
